There is no denying that Samsung, of late, has been on a launch spree. We have seen a virtual barrage of handsets from the company over the course of the past few months. The new devices introduced by the company include three new devices from the brand new Galaxy M Series,  the all-new Galaxy S10 series that includes the Galaxy S10+, the Galaxy S10, and the Galaxy S10e. The series that got the most number of handsets, however, has to be the Galaxy A Series. We have seen Samsung introduce nearly half a dozen A series handsets in the past month or so. These include handsets like the Galaxy A10, the Galaxy A30, the A40, and the Galaxy A50. Today, let us talk about yet another A Series handset introduced by the company – the brand new Samsung Galaxy A70. As evident from the naming scheme of the device, the Galaxy A70 is positioned several notches above the Galaxy A50 which was until now, the priciest of the new generation A-Series handsets from Samsung.

Let us now take a detailed look at the spec-sheet of the Galaxy A70.

Samsung Galaxy A70: Specifications, features

The talking point of the Samsung Galaxy A70 will most likely be the large 6.7-inch panel that it comes with. This display is of the Super AMOLED type and boasts of an aspect ratio of 20:9. This also makes the Galaxy A70 the first Samsung to sport a cinematic display. Like other new A-Series devices from the company, the Galaxy A70 gets a U shaped notch at the top of the display that Samsung refers to as an Infinity U display. Housed inside the U-shaped notch is a 32-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The primary camera at the rear also uses a 32-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 aperture lens that should result in great low light images. The rear panel also houses two other cameras that include an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The front facing camera is also used for the face unlock feature. The Galaxy A70 also features an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Samsung Galaxy A70: Battery, variants, expected launch date

Powering the Galaxy A70 is a large 4,500 mAh battery which will support 25W fast charging – a first for Samsung. Even the Galaxy S10 series (except the 5G version) support 18W fast charging.  These things aside, the handset will be offered in two RAM versions, one with 8GB RAM and the other with 6GB of RAM with both the versions getting 128GB of storage. The handset also gets a triple slot for housing two SIM cards and one microSD card at the same time.

From what is currently known, the Galaxy A70 will run Android 9 Pie with Samsung’s One UI on top. The handset will also feature a similar design language as seen on some of the other A series handsets. The phone will be offered in four color options: Coral, Blue, Black, and White. We still do not have details regarding the processor, pricing, and availability of the Galaxy A70. More details should, however, be out by April 10, 2019.
