Samsung launched the Galaxy A8 (2018) in December 2017 with the Android 7.1 Nougat operating system out of the box. Last year, the smartphone received an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo. Samsung recently released an Android Pie roadmap for Galaxy smartphones, which revealed the Galaxy A8 (2018) would receive the Android Pie update in April this year. The mid-range smartphone has now been spotted on the Geekbench benchmark database running on the Android Pie operating system, suggesting the rollout will begin on time.
Galaxy A8 (2018) Android Pie Update Expected to Roll Out in April
Samsung rolls out only two major OS upgrades for its mid-range and flagship Galaxy smartphones. Since the Galaxy A8 (2018) has already received one major OS upgrade, the Android Pie update will be the last major OS upgrade for the smartphone. As you can see in the screenshot below, the Galaxy A8 (2018) scored 1,533 points in the single-core and 4,321 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench. Both scores are more or less in line with the average scores attained by the smartphone on Geekbench. This suggests the update has been optimized quite well and will likely be ready to roll out within the next few weeks. However, as revealed by the update roadmap shared by Samsung recently, the actual rollout is expected to begin only in April.
