Samsung is expected to announce its first Infinity-O Display device officially in China on December 10, dubbed Galaxy A8s. The company will be the first to come up with such a notch-less display that has an in-screen camera beating the likes of Huawei and Lenovo to the punch. The event will be live streamed and you can watch it here on Mysmartprice as the whole device and its specifications go official for the first time. The launch will be in China and the handset will probably go official in other regions after that.
Galaxy A8s Expected Pricing, Live Streaming Details
The Samsung Galaxy A8s will launch in China today at 1:30 PM IST and will live stream on Samsung’s official websites. Those who are interested in watching the event live can head to Samsung China Website and Galaxy Club China. With new and innovative tech, there’s bound to be an increase in prices. The Galaxy A9 (2018) that launched recently starts at INR 36,999 which is close to the price of the OnePlus 6T. With upgrades in many areas, the Galaxy A8s could easily cost much more than that. However, there’s no clue on how Samsung will price this new premium A-series handset.
Galaxy A8s Expected Specifications, Features
Without a doubt, the limelight stealer of the launch event will be the first Infinity-O Display from Samsung making its first official appearance on a handset. Samsung has been the sole handset maker that has resisted temptation to feature a notch on any of its smartphones. In the quest for the ultimate bezel-less phone, Samsung will show off its own iteration of such a device. The Galaxy A8s will have a very tiny 6.7mm hole inside the screen for the front camera. Now, if the bottom bezels are also small enough, the screen-to-body ratio of this smartphone will be very high.
With regards to specifications, the Galaxy A8s has appeared on a number of certification portals like the FFC and the WFA, and most recently TENAA, which has led to a massive leak of its specifications. TENAA’s listing says that the Galaxy A8s will be dominated by a 6.39-inch LCD display, with a screen resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. Since this is an LCD display, you might have guessed it but it will not feature an in-screen fingerprint reader. Instead, that sensor will be on the back where it is more traditionally seen. While TENAA specs don’t mention the identity of the processor, speculation is rife that it will be a Snapdragon 710 SoC that will coincidentally be on the Nokia 8.1 which is launching in India on the same day.
The handset will come in 6GB/8GB RAM choices and 128GB of onboard storage and options of expandability is not yet confirmed. The triple camera on the back is also confirmed courtesy of TENAA’s clear images. It consists of a 24MP primary sensor that is supported by 5MP and 10MP shooters stacked vertically on the rear. While the front should be home to a single 24MP selfie camera. The package will be neatly rounded up with a 3300mAh battery and software version could likely be Android 8.1 Oreo. From the looks of it, the TENAA images also reveal a gradient Blue similar to the one seen on the Honor 10 Lite. The handset could very well be a glass plated beauty from Samsung with quite stunning looks.
