Samsung has just released two new J-series smartphones in India- The Galaxy J6 Plus and the Galaxy J4 Plus. Samsung mid-tier devices are fairly popular in India but they still have a hard time competing with the smartphones from Xiaomi, Oppo, and other brands in the same price segment. Here, we have compared the latest Galaxy J6 Plus to the Xiaomi Mi A2, and the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

The  Galaxy J6 Plus with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at Rs. 15,990, while the Xiaomi Mi A2 with same storage option is priced at Rs. 16,999. The Nokia 6.1 Plus also comes in a single storage variant and is priced at Rs. 15,999.

Galaxy J6 Plus vs Mi A2 vs Nokia 6.1 Plus: Design, Display

The Samsung Galaxy J6 Plus features a large 6-inch Infinity Display with 1480 x 720 resolution in an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The Mi A2, on the other hand, comes with a slightly smaller 5.99-inch LCD display, with a Full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 18:9.

Ths Nokia 6.1 Plus is in the first batch of Nokia handsets to get a notched display. The smartphone comes with a 5.8-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9.

Galaxy J6 Plus vs Mi A2 vs Nokia 6.1 Plus: Performance, Hardware

Under the hood, the galaxy J6 Plus is powered by a Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, combined with Adreno 308 GPU. In the hardware department, the Xiaomi Mi A2 is equipped with a better Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, paired with Adreno 512 for handling the graphics. Users can easily play games, watch videos and even multitask on the device without having to worry about the performance of the device.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor coupled to Adreno 509 GPU and 4GB of RAM. Both the Xiaomi and the Nokia smartphones are better than the Samsung Galaxy J6 Plus.

In the imaging department, the Galaxy J6 Plus sports a dual-camera at its back comprising a 13MP primary and a 5MP depth-sensing camera configuration. Both lenses on the device have a different aperture. On the front, there is an 8MP camera with a f/1.9 aperture for taking selfies and making video calls.

The Mi A2 performs better than the Samsung device in the camera department. There’s a primary 12MP Sony sensor, which is coupled with another high-resolution 20MP low-light camera. The front of the device houses a 20MP unit for selfies. The camera units also get AI features such as portrait mode and automatic scene selection.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus also get a decent camera gear at the back that includes a 16MP+5MP dual camera set up with large pixels and dual tone dual LED flash. On the front, the smartphone houses a decent 16MP camera for selfies and video calling.

The Galaxy J6 Plus is fuelled by a 3300mAh battery, while the Mi A2 packs a 3000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0. The battery on the Nokia 6.1 Plus is 3060mAh which supports Quick Charge 3.0

As for software, the Samsung Galaxy J6 Plus runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo), while the Mi A2 and the Nokia 6.1 Plus are both belong to the Android One family shipping with Android 8.1 (Oreo). Among all three devices, the connectivity options on the Nokia 6.1 Plus are better.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 Plus is clearly no match for the other two devices. If we compare the specifications and features of the Mi A2 and that of the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the Mi A2 is in the lead.
