Samsung, it seems, is readying the launch of two new M-series smartphones in India next month. According to folks over at 91Mobiles, the two new devices that the Korean smartphone major could launch in India include the Samsung Galaxy M31s and the Galaxy M51. If you recall, the company launched the Galaxy M31 a few months ago as a successor to the M30s. As for the Galaxy M51, this is believed to be an entirely new handset since Samsung did not have an M50 series device in the past.
Per the report, Samsung could announce the new M31s as early as next week while the M51 could see the light of the day sometime in late June. While the announcement for the M51 would happen in June, there might be a slight delay in the availability of the phone due to the ongoing lockdown. The report also goes on to talk about some of the hardware features you could see on both these phones.
Let’s take a closer look.
Samsung Galaxy M31s, Galaxy M51 specifications
As the case usually is with upcoming smartphones, we have very little information about the specifications of the M31s and the M51. What the report says, however, is that both the handsets will feature a 64MP primary camera using Samsung’s own GW1 sensor. You will notice that resolution-wise, this is not really an upgrade over the existing 64MP sensor used on the Galaxy M31. Both the handsets also reportedly get quad camera setup. The displays used on both the phones will be an AMOLED panel and will also feature an in-display fingerprint scanner.
As far as the M31s is concerned, there is talk that the quad cameras on the phone include an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera and two other 5MP sensors apart from the primary 64MP shooter. The front camera on the M31s could use a 32MP sensor. The phone is also likely to retain the Exynos 9611 SoC. Another key feature that Samsung will almost certainly retain the M31s is the large 6,000mah battery.
An earlier report by folks at Sammobile has indicated that two upcoming smartphones will come with 128GB of storage. There is a good chance that they were talking about the Samsung Galaxy M31s and the Galaxy M51 back then. That being said, we would also see the company launch lower capacity variants of the device.
Both these handsets will run Android 10 based One UI 2.0 at launch. The rest of the specifications remain under wraps for the time being.
