As scheduled, Samsung has launched the Galaxy M40 smartphone in India today. The brand did not hold a press conference for the launch. Instead, it streamed an interview style video on YouTube to announce the launch of this new smartphone. Let us have a look at the specifications of the Galaxy M40, and also its price in India, and availability details.

Samsung Galaxy M40 Price in India, Availability, Offers

Samsung has launched the Galaxy M40 in only one variant in India — 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, and it costs INR 19,990. The Galaxy M40 will be available to purchase starting 18th June exclusively through Amazon India and Samsung’s online store. The brand is also offering attractive offers with telecom brands. You can check them out in the pictures below.

Samsung Galaxy M40 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy M40 sports a 6.3-inch IPS LCD with Full HD+ resolution. What’s surprising here is that the display features a punch-hole for the front-facing camera instead of a traditional notch. The punch-hole display is usually found in high-end smartphones, but Samsung has managed to put it in the affordable, Galaxy M40. What’s also interesting is that the smartphone features On Screen Sound Technology, meaning that instead of a traditional speaker, the Galaxy M40 emits sound from its screen. According to Samsung, the display has 480 nits peak brightness, 1200:1 contrast ratio, and Widevine L1 certification. The screen also has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Coming to the performance, the Galaxy M40 features Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC, making the Galaxy M40 the first M-series smartphone to pack a Qualcomm chipset. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 is the same chipset that you find in the recently launched Redmi Note 7 Pro. This chipset has two Kryo 460 Gold cores, six Kryo 460 Silver cores, and Adreno 612 GPU. The Galaxy M40 comes in only variant — 6GB RAM + 128GB configuration. The smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie operating system, and it has One UI customization over it.

Moving on to the imaging, the Galaxy M40 has a 32MP + 8MP + 5MP triple-camera setup. The 32MP camera has a conventional FoV and an f/1.7 aperture. The 8MP camera is an ultra-wide unit with 123-degree FoV and f/2.2 aperture. The 5MP camera is a depth-sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The rear camera features 4K video recording at 30 frames per second, and it can also record 240 FPS slow-motion videos at Full HD resolution. Taking care of the selfies is a 32MP front-facing camera.

Powering the Galaxy M40 is a 3500mAh battery. The battery capacity is smaller than most smartphones in its price range. The battery supports 15W fast charging, and the device comes bundled with a 15W fast charger. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy M40 features dual-SIM with dual-VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. Unfortunately, the Galaxy M40 does not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. This, in my opinion, is the only major drawback of the device.
