Samsung Galaxy M42 5G Now Receiving One UI 5.0 Update Based on Android 13 in India

The new One UI 5.0 update also carries the November security patch with it.


Samsung has been on a spree when it comes to rolling out the latest Android 13 update for its Galaxy phones. The South Korean tech giant is among the leading smartphone companies to have rolled out the new Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for its Galaxy devices. Samsung has already made the update available for the flagship Samsung Galaxy S22 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G. The company is in the process of making its new One UI 5.0 update based on Android 13 available for other eligible smartphones. The latest smartphone to get the new One UI update in India is the Samsung Galaxy M42 5G.

The device, which was launched in 2021, is now receiving the new Android 13 update. Samsung launched the smartphone in April 2021 in India with Android 11. The device later received the Android 12 update within a few weeks of the rollout. Samsung has now started rolling out the One UI 5.0 update based on Android 13 for the Galaxy M42 5G.

The new One UI 5.0 update rolling out (via) to the Galaxy M42 5G has the model number M426BXXU3CVK5. It also carries the November security patch with it. Users who own a Galaxy M42 5G can go to Settings > Software update to see if they have received the new update. If not, you can expect your device to get the new One UI update in the coming days as it is being rolled out in a phased manner.

We would advise taking a backup of your device data before downloading and installing the new One UI 5.0 update. It is also suggested to have a stable Wi-Fi connection while downloading the new update.

One UI 5.0 Features 

Samsung has made some visual changes while introducing new features in One UI 5.0. After installing the update, the notification panel is slightly more opaque than before. The new One UI update also brings minor enhancements to Android’s colour palette, which matches the system UI colour based on the wallpaper.

In addition to this, Samsung has updated its native apps with new icons. The company also claims that the animations are smoother than the older versions. Samsung has added a few customisation options for users in One UI 5.0. Users can now set a different call background for each contact, add more wallpapers or customise their lock screen.

The new Android update for Galaxy smartphones also introduces Optical Character Recognition (OCR), which lets users copy the text in images and paste them into other apps.
