Samsung Galaxy M42 Will the First 5G Smartphone in M-Series: Expected Specifications, Launch Timeline

The Galaxy M42 5G seems to be just rebranded Galaxy A42 5G as it is revealed by the Wi-Fi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG listing.

Samsung launched the Galaxy M-series devices first in India back in 2019. The Galaxy M-series lineup is mainly targeted for the Asian and European markets if we go by the company’s past launches. Usually, the M-series consist of devices that offer some excellent specs at a decent price. Well, Samsung now seems to be launching a 5G smartphone soon in the Galaxy M-series. The first 5G device to launch in the Galaxy M-lineup could be the Galaxy M42. The evidence of the Galaxy M42 is revealed by the Wi-Fi Alliance certification, which suggests us that the device will most likely be just the rebranded Galaxy A42 5G.

Samsung Galaxy M42 Gets Wi-Fi Alliance Certification

The Galaxy M42 isn’t a new phone, as it most probably should be rebranded Galaxy A42 if we go by the Bluetooth SIG listing of the A42. The Galaxy M42 carries the model number as SM-M426B, while the A42 bears the SM-A426B model number. If we go by Samsung’s naming scheme of the model number, we possibly will see the Galaxy A42 5G marketed as the Galaxy M42 5G soon in some markets. Considering this postulation, the Galaxy M42 will also mostly retain similar specs as that of the Galaxy A42 5G.

The Galaxy A42 features a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display that has a 20:9 ratio. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 750 5G SoC, which is aided with 4GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. The device also comes in two more RAM and storage configuration that consists of – 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 128GB variants. The A42 5G runs Android 10 out of the box and is promised to get Android 11 update. It sports a 48MP quad-camera setup and has a 20MP front-facing camera.

The previous leak suggests us that Samsung Galaxy M42 might feature a 64MP camera setup at the back. The device could pack in a 6000mAh, as it was revealed by 3C certification last year. The Galaxy M42’s battery with model number EM-BM425ABY also had passed the BIS certification and DEKRA certification in the past. Currently, the launch date of the Galaxy M42 is not known as of now.

In a piece of news, we are aware that Samsung is preparing up for the launch of the Galaxy A52 and the Galaxy A72 smartphone at an unpacked event on March 17th. Samsung is even rumoured to announce the Galaxy A22 5G smartphone in the Asian and European market soon, whose launch date remains unknown at the moment.
