Earlier this year, Samsung introduced an all-new Galaxy M series line of smartphones, aiming to regain lost market share in the highly competitive budget smartphone segment in India and a few other markets. In June, the company launched the Galaxy M40, its most expensive M series phone yet. We have now obtained some new information, courtesy of tipster Ishan Agarwal, which suggests Samsung will launch a mid-range Galaxy M series smartphone dubbed the M90 in the fourth quarter of the year.

Samsung Galaxy M90 Likely to Debut Around Diwali This Year

The Samsung Galaxy M90 will arrive in different variants, including SM-M905F. Unfortunately, however, we have no information to share regarding the hardware specifications of the upcoming smartphone at this point. We can only confirm that the device is internally codenamed “R6”. Even though we do not have a specific release timeframe, the phone is likely to be launched before the end of November in the Indian market.

Going by the name of the smartphone, it is likely that the Galaxy M90 will be a much more expensive device compared to the current M series models. Since the Galaxy M40 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 chipset, it is possible that the Galaxy M90 will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 chipset, which powers the Galaxy A80.

Apart from a more powerful processor, we also expect to see a bigger display, more storage, and an impressive triple- or quad-camera setup on the back of the phone. On the software front, the phone is likely to debut with Android 9.0 Pie-based One UI out of the box. An upgrade to Android Q-based One UI 2.0 will likely arrive a few weeks or perhaps even months after the smartphone goes on sale. Samsung’s One UI 2.0 is expected to include all Digital Wellbeing improvements that were showcased by Google at I/O 2019, along with several other new features and improvements.
