Samsung is known for providing excellent cameras with its flagship smartphones. This year’s flagships, the Galaxy S10 lineup, and the Galaxy Note 10 lineup were no exceptions. That said, the company does not look like quitting this habit anytime soon. As it turns out, the next year’s Samsung Galaxy S11 lineup of smartphones will feature a 108MP sensor. What’s more? It could be an all-new sensor and not the one we thought of a little while ago.
Samsung Galaxy S11 to launch with a different 108MP camera sensor?
Last month, we got to know that the Galaxy S11 will make use of a 108MP sensor and will have support for 5X optical zoom. So far, it was being assumed that the device will make use of the ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor which the company has co-produced with Xiaomi, the same sensor which Xiaomi is using with the Mi CC9 Pro with the penta-camera setup (which is launching on November 5, by the way).
That, however, does not appear to be the case as the new report that has popped up on the internet courtesy of the famous tipster @IceUniverse, who has a more-than-decent track record when it comes to leaks (especially those related to Samsung) suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S11 will use “a new 108MP sensor”.
The tipster has not made anything clear about the sensor as to how it would be different from the one mentioned above. The change could either be a change in the matrix or the company might have opted for better image processing. These, however, are mere assumptions as of now and we are also waiting for some solid news.
As far as the current 108 MP sensor is concerned, the 108MP ISOCELL sensor promises 4-in-1 pixel-binned 27MP photos, which provides for a plethora of details owing to a mammoth sensor size.
Moving to the rest of the specifications of the device, though we don’t have much substantial intel on the Galaxy S11 as of now, if the current assumptions and leaks are to be believed, the Galaxy S11 will be powered with an Exynos 9830 and/or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset which will be coupled with an LPDDR5 RAM. The display of the device is once again tipped to be a Quad HD+ unit (Always-On Display mode, HDR10+ certification, 19:9 aspect ratio) and it will most likely sport a punch-hole camera at the front, just like its predecessor.
The device will come shipped with the company’s latest One UI 2.0 which has brought about a significant chunk of upgrades over its previous version.
Here’s a quick video showcasing some of the features of the One UI 2.0 –
As of now, this is all we know about the device, but we are sure to receive a lot of leaks and reports about the same in the coming days as the Galaxy S series of smartphones has always been one of the most anticipated ones in the world of Android.
