Samsung is Bringing 4 Galaxy S22 Features to S21, S20, Note 20 and Z-series Devices

Samsung Galaxy S22 series was launched earlier this year in the global market as well as in India. The series consists of three devices 一 Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra. One of the key highlights of the trio has been the camera as they can click excellent photos and even videos. These phones come with a bunch of new tools and setting options inside the camera, which overall offers a great camera experience.

Now, in order to give the same experience to the older Samsung Galaxy devices, Samsung has announced that it is rolling out a new update for last-gen devices that brings a bunch of new camera features to the older models. Currently, these updates are rolling out in Korea and global models are also expected to get the OTA update in the coming weeks. Let’s take a look at all the features and improvements that the update is bringing along with supported devices.

Improvement in Night Portraits

Night photography has always been tricky on smartphones, but in the last few years, we’ve seen a massive improvement in terms of night shots. Some of the older Samsung Galaxy devices will get support for better Night photography with the telephoto lens in Portrait mode. This allows users to capture bright portraits even in dark.

Auto Framing Function

Support devices: Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip 5G/LTE

On the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series devices, the auto framing function in movie mode provided has been improved. This feature offers automatic zoom in/out and tracking functions by recognizing the positions of up to 10 people at a distance of up to 5m. The feature will be added to the Galaxy S21 now.

Improving The Video Call

Samsung is adding a new video call app extension support for older Galaxy devices to offer better video call quality. Once updated, you will be able to test out these features with apps like BlueJeans, Duo, Google Meet, KakaoTalk, Knox Meeting, Messenger (Meta), Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Webex Meetings, and Zoom. The auto framing feature is also coming to video calls on Galaxy S21, Z Fold3, Z Flip3, S21 FE, Z Fold2, and Z Flip 5G/LTE devices.

Improved Camera Quality for Third-Party Apps

If you use any third-party camera apps from Google Play Store, Samsung will add its camera’s advanced processing even in other apps like Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat. This works best for HDR (High Dynamic Range) recordings in bright places and even in dark places.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Improvements

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable is getting a couple of additional improvements. Firstly, the device will get the Expert Raw app, which can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store. This app is a professional camera app and the device will be able to take advantage of all the settings on the app. Lastly, the device is getting support for Pro mode for the telephoto lens, allowing you to record distant subjects.
