Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S22 series at Unpacked 2022. The company has launched three premium Samsung smartphones under the Galaxy S22 series. Alongside the vanilla S22, there is the Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra. 

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes as a replacement of the Note series with a dedicated S Pen slot. It has a quad-camera setup on the back. The device is expected to launch soon in India alongside the vanilla S22 and S22 Plus. Samsung Galaxy S22 series price

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has been launched in four storage configurations – 8GB + 128GB, 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB and 12GB + 1TB. The base variant comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage and is priced at $1,199 (roughly Rs 89,800). The pricing details of the other three storage options will be announced soon. The phone has been launched in Phantom Black, Phantom Green, Phantom White and Burgundy colours.

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ come in 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB options. The Galaxy S22 is priced at $799 (roughly Rs 59,600), whereas the S22+ is priced at $999 (roughly Rs 74,800). Both devices come in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Phantom Green and Pink Gold colours. 

The India variant’s RAM and storage options were leaked hours before the launch. Samsung is expected to launch the devices in India in March.

Galaxy S22 Ultra specifications 

The top-of-the-line model, the S22 Ultra has a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a QHD+ resolution. The screen is curved and supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The Ultra model also gets the brightest display on any phone with a peak brightness of 1750 nits. It has a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for protection against drops and scratches.

The flagship smartphone has a quad-camera setup on the back with a 108MP f/1.8 main camera sensor. It has a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera and two 10MP camera sensors. One of the 10MP telephoto camera sensors has an f/2.4 aperture and can shoot up to 3x optical zoom. The other 10MP sensor can shoot 10X optical zoom and has an f/4.9 aperture. There is a 40MP front camera for selfies and video calls inside the hole-punch camera cutout.

The phone packs a 5000 mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging, 15W wireless charging. It also comes in Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and Exynos 2200 SoC variants, depending on the region. In India, Samsung is rumoured to launch the phone with a Snapdragon chipset. The phone runs Android 12-based One UI 4.1 out of the box. It has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ specifications 

The Galaxy S22 comes with a 6.1-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display, whereas the S22 Plus has a 6.6-inch screen. Both phones support a 120Hz refresh rate and come with a peak brightness of 1300 nits.

The S22 has a 3700 mAh battery with 25W fast charging and 15W wireless charging support. Galaxy S22+, on the other hand, has a 4500 mAh battery with 45W fast charging support along with 15W wireless charging support. 

Both phones have a triple-camera setup. There is a 50MP main camera along with a 12MP ultrawide camera sensor and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, 30x Space Zoom. For selfies, there is a 10MP front camera. Like the Ultra model, both devices come in Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and Exynos 2200 SoC options. They boot Android 12-based One UI 4.1 out of the box.
