Samsung Galaxy S23 FE rumours have been surfacing on the web for quite some time. The rumour mill seems to be pretty confused about the existence of a new Fan Edition variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S series. There have been reports claiming that Samsung has ditched its plans to launch a new FE smartphone. Some reports, on the other hand, revealed that the phone could launch soon. Adding to the confusion is a new leak from a Korean blog, which claims that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will launch later this year.

The company has not confirmed any details about the launch. However, some specifications of the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE have leaked online. Let’s take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE launch timeline, specifications and other details known so far.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE: What to Expect

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is said to launch later this year. According to a new report, the launch is set to take place in Q4 2023. The Sisa Journal report stated that Samsung will launch the FE variant of its flagship to fill in the gap between the Galaxy A54 and the flagship S23. The gap is due to Samsung ditching the Galaxy A7x series, which means that there will be no Galaxy A74 5G later this year.

The company has reportedly finalised the product and is now working with partners for parts required for the production. The Galaxy S23 FE mass production is said to begin in the third quarter of 2023.

The report also highlights some of the key specifications of the phone. For starters, the Galaxy S23 FE will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. While the chipset is a flagship-grade SoC, it is about three generations old now. And with the Q4 2023 launch timeline, it is possible that Qualcomm might launch the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC by then. Another thing to note is that while Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC was very powerful at its time of launch, the SoC received some criticism for its efficiency and heating-related concerns. It would be interesting to see if the leaked SoC details are indeed true.

The Galaxy S23 FE is also said to feature a triple-camera setup on the back. The report does not mention any details about the camera specifications. It did reveal though that the Galaxy S23 FE will feature an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The last Galaxy S series Fan Edition phone launched worldwide was the Galaxy S21 FE. The phone was a good offering but its pricing and timing made it a less interesting device. The phone was launched in January 2022, a month ahead of the Galaxy S22 series. For over Rs 50,000 in India, the Galaxy S21 FE with an Exynos SoC did not seem to be a go-to product either.

For now, it would be interesting to see when Samsung launches the rumoured Galaxy S23 FE. Also, pricing would be a key factor here as the Galaxy A54 is rumoured to be priced under Rs 40,000, whereas the Galaxy S22 is available for about Rs 58,000 on e-commerce platforms.
