The Korean smartphone giant has unveiled Galaxy S20 FE 4G & 5G and Galaxy S21 FE under the Fan Edition series. The brand had skipped the Galaxy S22 FE smartphone owing to the chip shortage. A Korean tipster has revealed the chipset of the upcoming smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Chipset and Launch Details
Samsung introduced the Galaxy S21 FE in early 2022 and didn’t sell much in comparison to the Galaxy S20 FE 5G. The brand shipped over 10 million units of Galaxy S20 FE in 2020 alone. The primary reason was the usage of the Exynos 2100 chipset which had throttling issues. There are several users who bought Galaxy S20 FE 5G even in 2023. The skipping of Galaxy S22 FE was primarily to boost the sales of Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Samsung wants to reclaim the charm of its FE smartphones. The Korean tipster has revealed that Samsung will ship the smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Samsung will price the smartphone attractively to boost sales. The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset is much better in comparison to the 8 Gen 1 SoC. The chipset uses TSMC’s 4nm process and offers better performance and power efficiency.
If the report is true, then Samsung might be able to create a positive impact on the smartphone market. Since Samsung has already used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with the Galaxy S23 series, it seems to want to avoid using the same chipset with the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone. Apart from this, the usage of 8 Gen 2 would also increase the price and might not perform well in the market.
There are rumors regarding the smartphone that Samsung might price it around USD 150 (approximately Rs 12,430) lesser than the Galaxy S23 smartphone. The Galaxy S23 retails for USD 799.99 (approximately Rs 66,265), so the FE should be priced around USD 649.99 (approximately Rs 53,840).
The previous reports revealed that Samsung will skip the Galaxy A74 smartphone to focus on the upcoming S23 FE smartphone. The brand wants to offer a complete makeover for the Galaxy A series smartphones. Samsung is likely to launch the device in H2 of 2023. To be more precise, Samsung may unveil it between August and September. There is no concrete info about the other specifications of the upcoming smartphone yet.
