We are a couple of weeks away before Samsung unpacks the Galaxy S23 series. The company is expected to launch three flagship phones at the Unpacked event on February 1, 2023. A lot about the Galaxy S23 series has leaked online. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus will get some design changes, whereas the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be, more or less, the same as the S22 Ultra. Specifications and features of the upcoming Samsung smartphones have leaked as well. Now, a new report claims that the processor powering the Galaxy S23 series will be more special than what’s available for the rest of the market.

9to5Google claims that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will draw power from a customised version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with a higher clock speed. The publication has managed to get its hands on the official documentation, which reveals that the SoC will be called “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy.”

The report stated that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will get an overclocked version of the SoC with a peak clock speed of 3.36GHz. We reported about the same weeks ago when the Galaxy S23 Ultra was spotted on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC clocked at 3.36GHz. The standard version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which has been found in phones like the iQOO 11 5G, Xiaomi 13 Pro and the OnePlus 11 5G, has a peak clock speed of 3.2GHz.

It would be interesting to see how the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC performs, especially in the more compact variant of the S23 series. We will, of course, have to wait and see till the launch of the phones. While we wait for that, here’s a quick look at what else is known about the Galaxy S23 series.
