Samsung has announced a new tablet under the A-series. The Galaxy Tab A8 is a new mid-range tablet offering from the South Korean tech giant. It comes with some incremental upgrades over the Galaxy Tab A7. The tablet has a large 10.5-inch display. It also comes with a massive battery under the hood. Samsung has launched the tablet in three variants with up to 128GB of internal memory. It comes in WiFi and LTE options. The tablet goes on sale in US and Europe in the coming weeks. Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 has been launched in multiple storage configurations. The base 3GB + 32GB variant with WiFi connectivity is priced at €229 (roughly Rs 19,700). The 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB variants are priced at €259 (roughly Rs 22,300) and €309 (roughly Rs 26,600).
The LTE variants of the mentioned storage options are priced at €279 (roughly Rs 24,000), €309 (roughly Rs 26,600), and €359 (roughly Rs 30,900).
Samsung has launched the tablet in three colours – Grey, Silver, and Pink Gold.
Specifications and features
The Galaxy Tab A8 2021 features a 10.5-inch TFT display with a 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution. The display is surrounded by thick bezels on all four sides. The right edge of the frame, when held vertically, houses the 5MP front camera sensor.
On the back, the device has an 8MP camera with autofocus. There is no mention of the SoC’s moniker. Samsung states that the device has an octa-core SoC clocked at 2.0GHz and it is likely the Unisoc T610 chipset. On top of up to 128GB storage, users can expand the memory via a microSD card up to 1TB.
The tablet packs a 7040 mAh battery with 15W fast charging support. It has a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and quad-speakers with Dolby Atmos. It weighs 508 grams and measures 246.8 x 161.9 x 6.9mm. The Samsung Galaxy tablet runs Android 11-based OneUI 3.0 out of the box.
