One such company is Samsung who recently announced the launch of an interesting tablet in India. This new tablet goes by the name of Galaxy Tab Active 2. While the name may sound uninteresting, the product itself isn’t. You see, the Galaxy Tab Active 2 is perhaps the only MIL-STD-840G certified tablet currently on sale in India. The product offers some very interesting features for people on the lookout for a tough computing device that has been tested and certified for use in trying conditions. Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2: How tough is it really?
To start with, as you might have already read in the title, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 is MIL-STD-840G certified. This, along with IP68 certification means that the Galaxy Tab Active 2 is capable of withstanding some serious punishment. Samsung claims that the tablet can withstand the onslaught of 21 elements including salt fog, settling dust, blowing dust, icing, blowing rain, dripping rain, immersion, humidity, vibration, ballistic shock, transit drop, low-temperature storage, low-temperature operation, high-temperature storage (constant), high-temperature storage (cyclic), high-temperature operation (constant), high-temperature operation (cyclic), temperature shock, temperature, humidity, vibration, altitude, low-pressure storage, and low-pressure operation.
Apart from being capable of withstanding some serious punishment, the Galaxy Tab Active 2 also boasts of defense-grade security thanks to Samsung’s own Knox platform. The product also boasts of biometric authentication features for added security. The IP68 certification ensures that the machine can remain underwater for 30 minutes (1.5 meters).
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2: Specifications, price in India
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 gets an 8-inch WXGA display (1280 x 800 pixels). This is a TFT panel with a layer of gorilla glass 3 for additional durability. Samsung only mentions that the device is powered by an Exynos SoC without specifying the model. The tablet gets 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot for additional memory. Imaging is supported with the help of an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary front-facing camera. The tablet also gets a SIM card slot for mobile data connectivity. Other connectivity features include Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, pogo pin connector, and a USB Type-C port. The tablet also gets a large 4,450mAh battery that according to the company is user replaceable.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 was originally launched back in 2017 as a product specifically for the Dutch market. It is only now being released in India. As for the price, you will need to shell out INR 50,990 to own this piece of hardware.
