Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab S5e in the US. This new tablet costs $399 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage configuration, and $479 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage configuration. Currently, Samsung is offering the Tab S5e in Wi-Fi only flavor. However, LTE equipped models will launch in near future via major network carriers. Samsung is also offering a full-sized keyboard accessory, which costs an additional $129.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e sits in between the affordable Tab A series and the flagship Tab S series. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e costs $399, and in spite of that, it packs most of the features that the $649 worth Galaxy Tab S4 offers, making the Tab S5e a great value for money. Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e sports a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD (2560 x 1600) resolution, giving the display a pixel density of 287 ppi. The display has very thin bezels around it, therefore, despite large screen size, the Tab S5e is very compact.
The tablet comes with a 13MP camera at the back, which has contrast-detection autofocus, f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.4-inch sensor size, and 1µm pixel size. The rear camera can record 4K videos at 30 frames per second. The front-facing camera is an 8MP unit with fixed focus and f/2.0 aperture. Samsung has not provided details on the video recording capability of the front-facing camera yet.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor that has eight CPU cores comprising of two high-performance cores clocked at 2.0GHz, and six power-efficient cores clocked at 1.7GHz. As I have mentioned earlier, the tablet comes in two configurations. One has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and the other has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of memory. There is also a microSD card slot that can take up to a 512GB card. The device runs on Android 9 Pie operating system with Samsung’s OneUI customization over it.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e has four speakers; two at the top, and two at the bottom. Thanks to this speaker configuration, the Tab S5e can offer stereo audio regardless of the orientation of the device. According to Samsung’s website, these speakers are tuned by AKG. The website also mentions that the Tab S5e has Dolby Atmos technology for surround sound experience.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e has a 7040mAh battery. Samsung says that the tablet supports fast charging, but the brand has not mentioned its wattage. According to the spec sheet, this new tablet can offer up to 14.5 hours of video playback. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy Tab S5e has dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth v5.0, and USB 3.1 Type-C port. Unfortunately, the tablet lacks the 3.5mm audio jack. As mentioned earlier, the tablet is currently available in Wi-Fi only variant, and the LTE variants will be offered via major network carriers in the coming months. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e also has a fingerprint scanner embedded in the power key.
