The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) now features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G SoC, and comes with Android 12 onboard.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022 Edition

Samsung has quietly refreshed one of its popular, mid-range Android tablets that was launched a couple of years ago. While the original Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite still continues to sell in India, it is likely that with this mid-life refresh, Samsung might bring the same specifications to countries outside Europe as well – which is where it has been launched right now. It will also be interesting to see how the spec refresh of a dated tablet would work for Samsung, since such rehashes are not very common in the tech space.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022): Key specifications

There are two key changes to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022), the biggest of which is with its chipset. While the older version of the tablet was powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 9611 SoC, the new one features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G – the latter being clearly superior on overall performance terms. However, Samsung did not use this chance to upgrade the RAM and internal storage sizes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) – this still stands at 4GB only. The internal storage, however, gets a new variant – with a 128GB variant joining the base 64GB one.

The display remains the same, with 10.4-inch screen size, and the TFT LCD screen offering resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels. The design remains the same as well, with uniform bezels, a fairly slim body and reasonably light weight for its size. Camera wise too, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) features an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, which too seem rather basic for modern standards – even in the tablet market.

The tablet is powered by a 7,040mAh battery, which is also the same as before. The only other upgrade to the tablet is the use of Android 12, the latest version of Android, out of the box. Samsung would hope that these two upgrades would be enough to give the Tab S6 Lite a fresh lease of life, and compete against newly launched Android tablets such as Xiaomi’s Pad 5 – which was unveiled recently in India.

It will be interesting to see if Samsung brings this refresh to markets outside Europe as well, such as India. In India, the original Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was previously on sale at Rs 27,999. In Europe, the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant has been priced at EUR 399 (approx. Rs 32,000), while the 128GB variant costs EUR 459 (approx. Rs 37,000). In Europe, the tablet comes with the S-Pen bundled as well.
