The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will come with some key design changes over the Z Flip 4. It is likely to debut in July 2023 in various markets. Ahead of the launch, the new leak by OnLeaks suggests that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 might get the biggest cover display on any Galaxy Z Flip series phone yet. The tipster shared the design renders and also revealed some key specs.

According to the design images, almost half of the rear panel is covered by the outer display. The rest of the space is occupied by the dual-camera setup and an LED flash module. It is worth noting that the cover screen, as per the renders, is not edge-to-edge. There is some space around the cover display, which could be to protect it from accidental touch or drops.

The report claims that the outer display is 3.4 inches tall. The foldable display on the inside will be 6.7 inches tall. The bezels are fairly thin around the foldable display. The foldable phone, when in an unfolded state, measures 165 x 71.8 x 6.7mm, according to the report.

There is a hole-punch cutout at the top centre for the front camera. Samsung is also said to use a new waterdrop hinge mechanism to reduce the gap between the display when folded.

Under the hood, the phone is likely to feature the custom-developed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for Galaxy, which has a peak clock speed of 3.36GHz. it might launch with at least 8GB of RAM, as per a Geekbench listing. The phone will also launch with Android 13 out of the box. It will have a layer of One UI 5 on top.

The camera specs are unknown. Samsung might launch the clamshell foldable with a 12MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. If the main camera does get an upgrade, it might feature a 50MP main camera. The foldable phone will support 25W fast charging. It is unknown if the phone will pack the same 3700mAh battery found in the Flip 4 or if there are any changes under the hood. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is tipped to be available in Beige, Grey, Light Green and Light Pink colour options.
