Samsung might make some massive upgrades to the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The foldable smartphone is many months away from the typical Galaxy Unpacked launch event for foldable phones, which is usually held in the second half of the year. Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with some incremental upgrades while tweaking the design a bit. With the Galaxy Z Flip 5, the South Korean tech giant could improve the most key element of a foldable phone — its display.

Samsung is said to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with a bigger cover display. The tech giant is also said to launch the clamshell folding phone with an invisible crease. The set of details have come from renowned display analyst Ross Young. Let’s take a look at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 specifications, features and other details known so far.

First Set of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Specifications Leak

Samsung has refrained from upgrading the display size of the Galaxy Z Flip series for the longest time. However, things might change with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. Young took to Twitter to reveal the display specifications of the upcoming foldable smartphone from Samsung.

The display analyst claims that Samsung will launch the Flip 5 with an invisible crease for the foldable display. He revealed that Samsung will use a new hinge design, which will “reduce the visibility of the seam”.

Young further revealed that the outer display will be larger than 3 inches in size. The foldable phone’s outer display could be anywhere between 3.3-3.4 inches large. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a 1.9-inch cover display. If the leaked details are true, Samsung might not only play catch up with its Chinese rivals, such as Motorola and OPPO but also take the lead by launching a clamshell foldable phone with a larger cover display.

The Moto Razr 2022 has a 2.7-inch OLED cover display, whereas the upcoming OPPO Find N2 Flip is rumoured to feature a 3.26-inch cover display. The Find N2 Flip’s live video leaked online revealed that the foldable phone will sport a vertically tall rectangular cover display, which can be used as a mini version of a smartphone display for checking notifications, making phone calls, etc.

Samsung might also want to make the Galaxy Z Flip 5 a more lucrative option for buyers as OPPO is rumoured to launch the Find N2 Flip in global markets following its debut in China. The Chinese smartphone giant has not confirmed any details but tipster Ice Universe recently revealed the details about the global launch on Weibo.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5’s foldable display size is unknown. We can expect it to sport a 6.7-inch foldable AMOLED display at least, which is currently the size of the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s screen. The phone could also get a Plus version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which could launch in the second half of 2023. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 might also pack a bigger battery, compared to the 3700mAh cell found in the Flip 4. More details about the foldable phone should surface online in the coming weeks.
