Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are likely to launch later this year. The company, last year, launched the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4 as its latest premium phones with upgraded hardware and an improved design. We are still a few months away from the launch of the next Samsung foldable phones and fresh details about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 have surfaced online.
According to a new leak, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will get a major design this year. Samsung is likely to take on OPPO with its clamshell-style foldable phone that has a bigger cover display. Let’s take a look at more details about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 specifications, features and other details known so far.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Leak Surfaces Online
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be one of the two premium foldable phones from the company. It will launch along the Fold 5 at Unpacked 2023. Samsung is yet to confirm any details about the next Galaxy Z Flip and Fold phones. The current generation of Samsung foldable phones were launched in August 2022. We can expect the Fold 5 and Flip 5 to launch around the same time this year.
Ahead of the official launch, tipster Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a bigger external display. The outer screen will not be bigger than the outgoing model but also larger than the OPPO Find N2 Flip, which has a 3.26-inch cover display. The Galaxy Z Flip 4, in comparison, has a small 1.9-inch outer display.
The taller screen will result in users checking notifications and performing some other tasks, such as switching between music tracks, replying to messages, etc., without having to open the foldable screen.
At the moment, it is unknown if the larger display will have an impact on the battery size as the display components are likely to require more space internally. We also do not know the exact screen size of the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
This is only the first set of leaks that has surfaced online about the upcoming Samsung foldable phone. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 might get the rumoured Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC. It would be interesting to see if Samsung’s partnership with Qualcomm for customised flagship Snapdragon SoCs extends to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 models. We also expect the foldable phone to sport a tall 6.7/6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Full HD+ resolution. The device is also likely to offer a dual-camera setup on the back.
