Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 later this year. The company is likely to launch its new foldable phones at the Unpacked 2023 event in August. We are months away from the launch of the upcoming Samsung foldable smartphones. However, that is not stopping the rumour mill from churning out new details about the Galaxy foldable devices. The latest leak revolves around the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.
According to a new leak, the upcoming clamshell-style Samsung foldable phone might feature a dual-cover display setup. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 currently sports a 1.9-inch cover screen. Let’s take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 specifications, features and other details known so far.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Display Details Leaked
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 might get some major display upgrades later this year. The foldable phone might feature two cover screens. A report by GizmoChina, citing a leak by tipster SuperRoader, revealed that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will sport a dual-cover display setup. The tipster uploaded a concept render based on the leaked details.
The outer shell of the foldable phone has been divided into two parts. The top part houses the dual-camera rings, next to which is an LED flash and a small cover display. A majority of the top half of the rear shell has a bigger cover display. The report stated that the bigger cover display is 3.4 inches in size, making the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s cover display bigger than the OPPO Find N2 Flip.
The leak is in line with a recent report, which claimed that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a bigger external display.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has a tiny 1.9-inch cover screen. In comparison, it is quite small compared to the OPPO Find N2 Flip’s 3.26-inch outer display. If the leaked details are true, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 might get the biggest update in the cover display department since the launch of the first clamshell foldable smartphone from Samsung. The bigger display will be useful for checking notifications, accessing quick settings or even using it as a viewfinder.
The renders also show that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have flat edges and rounded corners. The hinge gap might not exist, whereas the crease’s visibility will reduce further, as per the leaked details.
We advise taking the leaked details with a pinch of salt as there is no proven track record to verify the renders uploaded by the tipster.
Some other details about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 have leaked as well. The phone is tipped to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. It is also likely to sport a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a hole-punch cutout at the top centre for the front camera. It is unknown if the phone will get any major upgrades in the camera and fast charging department. We are still months away from the launch. Therefore, more details about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 should surface online as we inch closer to the rumoured launch timeline. What are your thoughts on the upcoming Samsung foldable phones?
