Samsung has launched two new foldable phones at the Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the company’s most premium foldable smartphone offering for 2021. It is the first Samsung phone to feature an under-display camera. The Fold 2 successor also packs a Snapdragon 888 SoC and a 4,400 mAh battery.

Samsung has also unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 3 at Unpacked 2021. It continues to have a clamshell design with a large 6.7-inch display. The Flip 3 price is set under USD 1,000. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3 price

The Z Fold 3 5G price in the US starts at $1799.99 (roughly Rs 1,34,000). It comes in two storage configurations with 12GB of RAM as standard. Users in the US can choose to get the 256GB or the 512GB storage option. The device comes in Phantom Black, Phantom Silver and Phantom Green colours.


The Z Flip 3 5G price in the US starts at $999.99 (roughly Rs 74,500). It also comes in two storage configurations. The device comes in 8GB + 256GB and 8GB + 128GB storage options. It has been launched in Phantom Black, Cream and Lavender colour options.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: Specs and Features

The Z Fold 3 sports a 7.6-inch foldable display with a resolution of 2208 x 1768 pixels. The Infinity Flex display has a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus and a 120Hz refresh rate support. It also comes with support for Samsung’s S Pen Pro. The foldable display houses a 4MP under-screen camera with an aperture of f/1.8.

On the outside, Fold 3 has a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2260 x 832 pixels and 387 PPI. It has a hole-punch cutout for the 10MP f/2.2 front camera.

The phone draws power from a 5nm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It is paired with up to 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. The foldable phone packs a 4,400 mAh battery. It comes with 25W fast charging support. 

In terms of optics, the Fold 3 has a triple-camera setup on the back. There is a 12MP wide camera with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS). It is accompanied by a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide and a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. The camera lens comes protected with Corning’s Gorilla Glass DX.

Other specs include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, etc. The device boots Android 11-based OneUI 3 out of the box. It weighs 271 grams and is 6.4mm when unfolded.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G: Specs and Features

The Flip 3 sports a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display with a 1080 x 2640 resolution. The Dynamic AMOLED display will have a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and support a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a 1.9-inch cover display with a 260 x 512 pixels resolution. 

The device draws power from a 5nm Snapdragon 888 SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. It packs a 3,300 mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.

The phone has a 10MP front camera inside the hole punch cutout. On the back is a dual-camera setup with a 12MP primary camera that supports optical image stabilisation (OIS). There is also a secondary 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field of view. The device will have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and support face unlock as well. It will also come with stereo speakers and IPX8 certification for water resistance.
