Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra To Feature a New ISOCELL HP2 Special Sensor That The Company Just Developed

Samsung has officially introduced the ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor today. The newly launched ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor will be used by Samsung in its upcoming Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone. The ISOCELL HP2 is Samsung’s third 200MP camera sensor which offers improved image and video quality. It also offers improved autofocus, new D-VTG technology, and Smart ISO Pro which allows device to capture 4K 60fps HDR videos. Samsung ISOCELL HP2 Features Dual Vertial Transfer Gate Technology And Better Autofocus

The new Samsung ISOCELL HP2 is 1/1.3-inch in size with 0.6μm pixels. This new sensor from Samsung features new Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) technology which can boost the pixel’s full-well capacity by more than 33 percent. Through this method, there will be a reduction in overexposure and enhancement in color reproduction in bright light conditions, claims Samsung.

Furthermore, the newly introduced ISOCELL HP2 also features Samsung’s advanced pixel-binning technology, Tetra2Pixel which transforms 50MP images with 1.2μm pixels or 12.5MP images in 2.4μm pixels in low-light conditions. This new sensor is also capable of capturing 8K videos at 30fps. Additionally, at 33MP, the HP2 can switch to 50MP mode as well to minimize cropping. In low-light conditions, this new sensor offers good autofocus because of Super QPD. This new technology offers the sensor to use all its 200 million pixels for focusing agents.

With HP2 sensor, Samsung is also introducing the DSG (Dual Signal Gain) feature in the 50MP mode. The DSG applies two separate conversion values to the analog signal received at the pixel level, thereby offering a “super HDR performance”. The HP2 also boasts Smart ISO Pro, which allows device to capture 12.5MP images and 4K 60fps HDR videos simultaneously.

As per details shared by Samsung, this new sensor is already in production. As mentioned above, the Samsung ISOCELL HP2 sensor will make its debut in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which is confirmed to launch on February 1st, 2023 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event.
