Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2022 is around the corner. We are a week away from the launch event where Samsung will announce two new foldable smartphones alongside its new smartwatches and Galaxy Buds TWS. The Galaxy foldable phones are said to be a highlight of the event for the upgrades they would receive. Samsung might not just make changes in the hardware but also the name. According to a new leak by SnoopyTech, Samsung is dropping the Z branding from the upcoming foldable phones and simply call them Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4.

The change in moniker will happen worldwide because the Russian military uses the letter on its armed vehicles entering Ukraine for war. The letter Z painted on these vehicles is a reproduction of the Latin letter Z. Several Russian tanks, helicopters, rocket launchers, etc. have the letter Z painted on them, which is not only used to identify Russian vehicles but also an abbreviation of the phrase “za pobedu”, which translates to “for victory”.

Samsung has already dropped the Z branding in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. The company is now said to make the change worldwide and launch the Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4 without the Z branding.

The company has not officially revealed any details about the naming scheme. However, the wait should not be a long one as we are only a week away from the Unpacked event.
