Shaakuntalam Official Trailer and Plot
Shaakuntalam movie is based on the renowned Sanskrit play known as Bhijnana Shaakuntalam. The movie is about the daughter of sage Vishwamitra and Apsara Menaka, known as Shaakuntala. It portrays the love tale between the sage daughter and King Dushyanta. It revolves around how the two met, fall in love, got married and had a baby. However, due to a sage’s curse, Dushyant forgets all about Shaakuntala and she is left behind by the King. However, the plot comes with its own tales of twists and turns and how destiny brings the two together.
Samantha portrays the lead character Shaakuntala in the movie, while popular Malayalam actor Dev Mohan plays the role of King Dushyant. Apart from this, the movie also marks the debut of Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha, who plays a cameo role in the movie. Apart from this, Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Madhoo, Gautami, Aditi Balan, and Ananya Nagalla also have supporting roles. The movie is directed by Gunasekhar. It was created by Neelima Guna’s Gunaa Teamworks and distributed by Sri Venkateswara Creations.

Shaakauntalam, despite its creative interpretations of the Sanskrit play, failed to garner much support from the audience. The movie was released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages in the theatres, but didn’t get much of a positive response. The movie was made with a budget of Rs 65 crores. On IMDb, the movie has got 4.7 stars out of 10.
