Instagram is adding a new feature: Song on Profile. This feature lets you add your favourite song to your profile, and visitors can click to play the song. You can choose a 30-second clip of your favourite song, pretty much like you’d select a song for Reels or Stories. That portion will be shown on your profile, just below your Instagram bio.
Songs won’t start playing automatically; visitors will have to click the song title for it to start playing. Songs can be added to Instagram profiles from the Edit Profile option. The song will remain on your profile until you change it.
Instagram has partnered with singer Sabrina Carpenter to showcase this feature. Her Instagram profile features her new song “Taste”. Meta says this feature is now available for all Instagram users, personal accounts, and creator accounts.
This feature has been available for a long time on Facebook and works pretty much the same way. Even before that, it was a staple of MySpace as well. Instagram was testing this feature for months, and people in the Instagram subreddit were disappointed when it was removed six months ago.

- Open Instagram and tap Profile.
- Tap on Edit Profile.
- Select Add Music to your Profile.
- Search for the song you want or select one from the For You list.
- Set the timestamp for the song and save it.
