WhatsApp has added a new feature for Android and iOS users. This will allow users to customise their chat theme with different colours and backgrounds. To recall, this feature was previously spotted by WABetaInfo as part of Android and iOS beta updates. Here’s how you can do so.

WhatsApp Chats Now Gets More Personalised with Themes
Users have now gained the ability to customise their chat window by using these two new functionalities:
- There’s the ability to choose from various colours for chat bubbles and backgrounds — whether to pick one of the pre-generated chat themes or blend different colours for backgrounds and bubbles to suit their preference.
- There are 30 unique wallpaper options for chat backgrounds in addition to the option to upload a picture from their photo gallery as the background.
How to Change WhatsApp Chat and Channel Themes
The theme for all chats and channels can be changed via Settings → Chats → Default chat Theme.
To modify individual chats and channels,
- Tap the chat name at the top of the chat screen on iOS or click the 3-dot menu (on Android).
- Head to the Chat theme option and it will be done.
Users can pick a particular theme for their chats or channels for differentiation. However, it is important to note that these chat themes won’t be visible to others.
