OPPO has recently expanded its Reno series with the launch of two new phones called the Reno 5 and the Reno5 Pro+ 5G in China. The company has included the new Sony IMX766 camera sensors in both smartphones. Now in the latest report, a popular tipster has claimed that OPPO and Sony are taking this partnership to another level by bringing a new sensor called the Sony IMX789. According to the report, the company is planning to equip the OPPO Find X3 flagship series with this new sensor. Here’s a closer at the latest leak about the upcoming OPPO smartphone series.
OPPO Find X3 to Arrive with Sony IMX789 Sensor
Sony and Oppo seem to be working together for a long time and their business relationship in custom sensors developing. The OPPO Find X2 Pro was launched with an IMX689 sensor with 1/1.43” in size or 11.2 mm in physical diagonal. The configuration of the main camera was massive for a smartphone and we have witnessed the performance as well. The smartphone was launched with a 48-megapixel camera sensor with a Quad Bayer filter. The sensor also comes with dual native ISO which reacts depending on the lighting conditions.

All these camera specifications delivered an impressive performance. However, now the company is stepping up and tipped to upgrade to the Sony IMX789 camera sensor which is going to be the successor of the IMX689. It has been expected that the IMX789 will arrive with improved processing capabilities along with the physical amount of pixels. OPPO flagship smartphone is also said to feature the 108-megapixel camera sensor. Meanwhile, reports also claimed that OnePlus 9 Pro is also going to use the same Sony IMX789 sensor.
