Sony WF-1000XM5 FCC Listing Reveals Design

The new Sony WF-1000XM5 will launch as a successor to the WF-1000XM4 in various markets. The TWS earbuds are expected to launch in India as well. Ahead of the launch, an FCC listing spotted by The Walkman Blog revealed that the earbuds will have a compact design compared to their predecessor model. The earbuds are also more rounded, unlike the WF-1000XM4, which came with a flat underside.

The earbuds have a glossy black paint job but according to the report, it could be due to the pre-production unit visiting the FCC website.

The charging case is also slightly more rounded in shape compared to the XM4’s case. There is also a two-pin charging connector instead of a three-pin one in the predecessor model. The charging case text suggests that the earbuds could be charged faster. The XM5’s case has a 5V = 230mA specification compared to the XM4’s 5V = 140mA specification.
