Sony has just launched the WH-1000XM5 noise cancelling headphones in India today. The company’s latest flagship headphones, the WH-1000XM5 were launched globally back in May globally. The company had teased the launch of India last week. The new headphones from Sony come with better and improved active noise cancellation (ANC), a new design, longer battery life, a 30mm audio driver setup, and much more.

The Sony headphones are now available for pre-order on Amazon and the listing says the device will come out and start shipping from October 8th. Since it is the festive season, the Sony WH-1000XM5 are available with a special during the pre-order period. The pricing is about Rs 5,000 cheaper than the global pricing.

Sony WH-1000XM5: Price in India and Availability

The Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are now available for pre-order on Amazon for Rs 26,999. This is a special pre-order price and the headphones will be available with a price hike once the pre-order period is over. Interested buyers can pre-order the headphones now on Amazon. You can choose between Black and Silver colour options.

Sony WH-1000XM5: Features and Specifications

The Sony WH-1000XM5 over-the-ear headphones come with Bluetooth 5.2 wireless connectivity. The audio product is powered by a large 30mm dynamic driver unit with support for SBC, AAC, LDAC audio formats and A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, and HSP sound profiles. These headphones come with DSEE Extreme, an AI-based process that restores detail from lossy compressed formats and brings more clarity.

Sony has integrated the new V1 processor that unlocks HD Noise Cancelling processor QN1. As for the design, the 1000XM5s are now more cylindrical and the new earcups can rotate sideways, but can’t be folded inwards like the last gen. There are eight mics to offer excellent noise-cancelling quality. The WH-1000XM5 also support Hi-Res and Hi-Res audio wireless.

In terms of battery life, they can last up to 30 hours on a single charge with ANC on and up to 40 hours with ANC off 一 for music. For calls, these numbers go down to 24 hours and 32 hours. A full charge takes about 3.5 hours and you can charge via a USB Type-C port.

Other features include quick attention mode, quick access to music by using two or three taps, Google Assistant, Google Fast Pair, multipoint connection, touch controls, Dolby Atmos and 360 Spatial Sound on select Sony TVs.

Sony WH-1000XM5 vs Competition

Sony’s new WH-1000XM5 will rival the Bose Quietcomfort 45, the newly launched Sennheiser Momentum 4, and also Sony’s own Sony new WH-1000XM4. All the headphones offer active noise cancellation. The Bose QC 45 offers up to 24 hours, Sennheiser Momentum 4 offers up to 60 hours, and the WH-1000XM4 offers up to 30 hours of battery. The Momentum 4 are priced at Rs 34,999, the Bose QC 45 are priced at Rs 29,990, and the Sony 1000XM4 are priced at Rs 24,990.
