Sony Xperia 5 II is seemingly set to launch on September 17, after confirmation of an upcoming Sony Xperia launch event surfacing for the same day. While Sony phones in India are no longer sold, the Sony Xperia line of smartphones has been one of the longest standing smartphone portfolios, and as a result, generates considerable interest among smartphone fans. The Sony Xperia 5 II is expected to be the brand’s new premium smartphone, and as a result, come with features including a flagship processor, rear camera featuring Zeiss lenses and a display with Sony’s typically sharp and vibrant colour quality.
Sony Xperia 5 II specifications, features
Sony Xperia 5 II recently surfaced in a leak, which detailed practically all of its specifications. According to the leak, the Sony Xperia 5 II will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC (and not Snapdragon 865 Plus), which may be paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The Xperia 5 II will reportedly also come with a dedicated microSD card slot for expanding storage – a feature that is often absent from premium smartphones.
The display on the Sony Xperia 5 II is slated to measure 6.1 inches in size, along with full HD+ screen resolution. It is expected to be an OLED panel with HDR certification, and bear 21:9 aspect ratio. Despite being a premium, flagship grade smartphone, the Sony Xperia 5 II will reportedly come with an older generation design – with bezels to the top and bottom.
To the rear, the Sony Xperia 5 II will reportedly feature a triple camera setup with Zeiss T* lenses. The triple rear camera setup will feature a 12MP primary unit with f/1.7 lens, 12MP telephoto unit with f/2.4 lens and 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide unit with f/2.2 lens. The leaks also suggest that the Sony Xperia 5 II will come with 4K HDR video support at 120fps, clearly showing Sony’s focus on the smartphone’s cameras.
Sony Xperia 5 II’s entire package will be seemingly powered by a 4,000mAh battery with USB-C Power Delivery for quick charging. It also appears to house a 3.5mm audio port for wired earphones. The only things that the leaks have not revealed is the quality of the front camera, as well as whether Sony will also throw in audio enhancements for the phone.
