According to the grapevine, Sony Liv has bought the rights for the movie’s digital premiere but there is nothing official about it. The movie, which is anticipated to do well at the box office, could only be released on the platform in November 2023, following its run in theatres. RDX and King of Kotha, recent films, have already appeared on streaming services before the 41-day window, although Kannur Squad, a Mammootty Kampany production, is anticipated to follow the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala FEUOK’s regulations.

George Martin, the movie’s main character, is renowned for his unconventional approaches to solving crimes. He is supported by a group of talented and devoted officials, each of whom contributes a special set of talents. They unearth a network of corruption and conspiracy as they probe deeper into the investigations, which directs them to influential people in society.
The movie touted as a thriller, is made by Mammotty through his own production company. The movie has prominent performances by Mammootty, Resh Lamba, Sajin Cherukayil, Shebin Benson, Rony David, N.P. Nisa, Shabareesh Varma, Deepak Parambol, Nalneesh Neel, Gibin Gopinath, and Azeez Nedumangad. Together with the actor Rony David Raj, Muhammed Shafi wrote the screenplay. The movie Kannur Squad debuted to generally favourable reviews. Trade analysts claim that the movie made Rs 2 crore on its opening day, and given the long weekend and the great critical reception, further screenings have been added in theatres all around Kerala. IMDB has given the movie a rating of 9/10.
