Tata Nexon EV has just received an upgrade with a new “Prime” tag. With this, the popular electric car in India gets some new features, promising to offer more than the outgoing model. Interestingly, Tata Motors will not be restricting these upgrades to the new units of the EV. Instead, it has promised to roll out the new features to the existing Nexon EV owners too.

These features have primarily been borrowed from the recently launched Nexon EV Max, an attempt by Tata Motors to offer more range to EV buyers at a higher cost. As for the Nexon EV Prime, the new EV by Tata Motors carries a 127 BHP electric motor and a 30.2 kWh battery pack backing it up. With this, the electric car claims a maximum range of 312 km (ARAI certified) on a single charge.

The Nexon EV Prime still sticks to the price brackets of the standard Nexon EV. However, buyers should note a slight hike in the cost of the EV as compared to the outgoing model. To be precise, the entry-level variant of the Nexon EV Prime will now cost Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This is a Rs 45,000 increase in the price of the EV, considering the price of the outgoing model. Similarly, other variants will also come at a marginally higher price. Here is a complete list of variants, with their prices and features, for the Nexon EV Prime.

Tata Nexon EV Prime: All models, prices and features explained

Nexon EV Prime XM – as mentioned, the base model will now cost Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. In addition to what was offered on the standard Nexon EV, the new Nexon EV Prime XM will now come with features like multi-mode regen, cruise control, Indirect Tyre Pressure Monitoring System or iTPMS, smartwatch connectivity and a charging timeout of 110 seconds.

Nexon EV Prime XZ+ – the step-up model in the series, the Nexon EV Prime XZ+ has been priced at Rs 16.30 lakh and comes with certain features on top of what we see on the standard variant. These include a dual-tone roof, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking assist camera and a leather wrap over the steering wheel.

Nexon EV Prime XZ+ Lux – Priced at Rs 17.30 lakh (ex-showroom), the XZ+ Lux is the first variant that offers a sunroof. The handful of additional features over the XZ+ model include leatherette seats, automatic rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.

Note that the three models listed above come in a total of two colour options – Signature Teal Blue and Glacier White. Other than these, we are left with two more models, both of which are named “Dark” and are hence available in only Cosmo Dark colour.

Nexon EV Prime Dark XZ+ – With a price tag of Rs 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the XZ+ Dark variant is quite similar to the regular XZ+ model. Other than the exclusive colour, the car also comes with a leatherette trim on the seat and the door trim, armrest and removable head rests on the rear seats, and a 60:40 rear seat split like in the Lux variant. There is also a puncture repair kit bundled with the car.

Nexon EV Prime Dark XZ+ Lux – The top model of the new Nexon EV Prime has been priced at Rs 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and has the same premium features as found on the regular Lux model. This means that the EV comes with a sunroof, leatherette seats, automatic rain-sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.

To summarise, there are a total of five variants of the new Nexon EV Prime. The Nexon EV Prime XM is the standard one, followed by two XZ+ models in three colour options and slightly different features. The top strata constitute two XZ+ Lux models with sunroofs, and again, in three colour options.

As for the existing Nexon EV owners, Tata Motors says that the new features will be rolled out to them through a software update for the first-time ever by the company. For this update, users will have to take their EVs to authorized Tata Motors service centres starting July 25. Any subsequent updates will be paid, the company has cleared.
