In a bid to get ahead in the DTH segment, Tata Sky has launched four new broadcaster packs in India. Starting at INR 49, these packs are aimed at Bengali subscribers. The four new packs are – Star Bengali Value A pack, Star Bengali Value B pack, Star Bengali Premium A pack, and Star Bengali Premium B pack. In other news, the DTH service provider has also reduced the pricing of its HD and SD set-top box.
Tata Sky Launches New Broadcaster Packs Starting at INR 49
The four new broadcaster packs start at INR 49 (excluding taxes). The lowest costing pack is the Star Bengali Value A pack. Users have to pay INR 57.8 after adding the taxes. This pack includes 14 SD channels including Star Sports 2, Star Sports 3, Star Gold, Jalsha Movies, National Geographic, and more. The Star Bengali Value B pack is similar to the Value A plan, but the only difference is that the Value B pack has Star Sports 1 Hindi instead of Star Sports 1 Bangla. These packs are limited to Tata Sky Bengali customers.
There are two premium broadcaster packs – Star Bengali Premium A and Star Bengali Hindi Premium B. The Premium A pack costs INR 93.2 including taxes and has 17 channels including Star Sports 1, Star Sports 2, Star Sports 3, Star Sports 1 Bangla, National Geographic, Star Gold Select, Fox Life, Nat Geo Wild, and more. The Star Bengali Hindi Premium B pack is priced at INR 95 including taxes. It features 17 channels including Star Sports 1 Hindi, Movies OK, Star Utsav Movies, Star Bharat, Star Utsav and more.
Tata Sky HD, SD Set-Top Box Price in India Reduced
In other news, Tata Sky has dropped the prices of its set-top box by INR 400. The DTH service provider aims at getting more subscribers across India by reducing the pricing. The newly priced set-top-boxes will be available via local dealers and retail stores in India. Tata Sky HD set-top box will now retail at INR 1,800 while the SD set-top box will cost INR 1,600.
With the revised pricing, Tata Sky set-top-boxes have come in the league of other DTH providers such as Airtel Digital TV whose HD set-top box is priced at INR 1,800 and the SD set-top box costs INR 1,650. Interestingly, Dish TV clocks the lowest pricing for the HD set-top-box at INR 1,690, thanks to an ongoing promotional offer.
Since the past few months, Tata Sky has been constantly trying to put new strategies in place to grow its subscriber base. Earlier, Tata Sky has launched a new platform digital content service named Tata Sky Binge in association with Amazon Fire TV Stick. Tata Sky subscribers who opt for the Binge service get access to over 5,000 titles under its Video-on-Demand section along with three months of free access to Amazon Prime Video.
