Tecno Pova 5G with Price Tag Under Rs 20,000 to Launch in India in Late January, Smartwatches Coming Soon Too

Earlier this week, Tecno, a Transsion Holding announced its first-ever 5G-enabled handset – Tecno Pova 5G. Now, in an interview with GizNext, Arijeet Talapatra – CEO, Transsion India has revealed the India launch timeline of the handset. Mr. Talapatra reveals that the device will launch sometime in the 3rd or 4th week of January and will be priced between Rs. 18,000-20,000 in the Indian market.

Apart from smartphones, the company is also looking to expand into the smartphone accessories segment. Mr. Talapatra said that the company is planning to launch new TWS, speakers, and smartwatch in 2022.

Mr. Talapatra further revealed that the Tecno smartwatch will launch sometime in Q2 2022 and will be priced under Rs 5000. The company will launch speakers in January.

Tecno Pova 5G: Specifications, Features and Price

The Pova 5G features a 6.9-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a punch hole notch. The Pova 5G makes use of an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor coupled with Mali G68 GPU. It comes in a single memory-storage configuration that is – 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It boots Android 11 with HiOS skin on top.

The handset offers a triple-rear camera setup with a 50MP sensor, a 2MP sensor, and an AI lens. For selfies and video calls, the Pova 5G offers a 12MP shooter along with the dual flash. The latest Pova series smartphone is equipped with a 6,000mAh battery and 18W fast charging support. It also packs a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm audio jack. It comes in Aether Black color variant and measures 172.82 x 78.24 x 9.07mm. The handset costs NGN 129,000 in Nigeria which translates to about Rs. 23,300.
