Chinese smartphone brand Tecno, a subsidiary of Transsion Holdings – the company that owns brands like Infinix, iTel, and Tecno, has launched a new handset called the Tecno Spark 5 in the country. An affordable smartphone priced below the psychologically important INR 10,000 mark, the Spark 5 finds itself squaring off against devices ranging from the Redmi 8A Dual,  Redmi 8A, and the Realme C3, to the recently launched Motorola G8 Power Lite. Tecno Spark 5 Price in India

The Tecno Spark 5 comes in a single variant here in India that offers 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This device will set you back by INR 7,999. The phone will be sold via traditional brick and mortar stores and comes in two color variants — Ice Jadeite and Spark Orange. The Tecno Spark 5 goes on sale starting May 25 across India. An entry-level device, the Tecno Spark 5 finds itself being powered by the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset. Based on a 12nm manufacturing process, this chipset is positioned even below the Helio P22 SoC that is usually found on devices in this price range. This chipset houses a quad-core processor with four Cortex-A53 cores and also gets the PowerVR GE8320 GPU for graphics.

The Tecno Spark 5 features a large 6.6-inch display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels (HD+) in the tall 20:9 aspect ratio. This LCD panel also boasts of 480nits of brightness. This display gets a ‘dot notch’ where the 8MP selfie camera finds pride of place. At the rear, the phone gets a quad-camera setup that consists of a 13MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture. Apart from this, the phone also gets twin 2MP sensors for bokeh and macro imaging. The fourth camera – the resolution of which hasn’t been revealed – is used as a dedicated AI sensor, the company says.

The Tecno Spark 5 runs Tecno’s own HiOS 6.1 at launch, which is itself based on Android 10. The device gets a triple slot, which means customers can use two SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time on the device. The phone also ships with a massive 5,000mAh battery that should be more than capable of endowing the Tecno Spark 5 with neatly two days of battery life.
