Tecno Mobiles, a brand owned by Chinese technology company Transsion Holdings, has announced a new budget handset called the Tecno Spark 5. In case you weren’t aware, Transsion Holdings also owns other smartphone brands like Infinix and Itel. As for this new phone, as per GSMArena, this device, as of now, seems to be headed towards select African markets – including Ghana, where it is already available for pre-order.
Let us take a closer look at the specifications of the Tecno Spark 5
The Tecno Spark 5 bears all the hallmarks of a typical budget smartphone aimed at emerging markets. For example, the company, on its official website, has chosen not to reveal the chipset that this device uses. What we know is that the phone gets a 2 GHz Octa-Core processor under the hood. There is just 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which, as you might have guessed – is quite low by today’s standards.
While Tecno hasn’t revealed the display type – it is likely that we are looking at a TFT LCD panel on the Spark 5. This panel measures 6.6-inches across and gets a punch-hole at the top to house the front-facing camera. Tecno calls this the ‘Dot-in Display.’ This is an HD+ panel with a resolution of 720*1600 pixels.
The Tecno Spark 5 gets a quad-camera setup at the rear with a 13MP primary camera that gets an f/1.8 aperture lens. The phone also gets twin 2MP cameras for depth sensing and portrait modes. At the front, the phone gets an 8MP selfie camera. For low light shots, the phone also gets a LED flash for the rear cameras. The rear panel also houses a fingerprint scanner for added security.
The Tecno Spark 5 also gets a large 5,000mAh battery that should be more than capable of powering the phone thorough nearly two days with nominal usage. The phone runs Android 10 based HiOS out of the box. While the pricing of the Tecno Spark 5 is yet to be officially announced, we know that the phone shall be made available in the following color options; Misty Grey, Vacation Blue, Ice Jadeite, Spark Orange.
There is no word if this handset would officially make it to India anytime soon.
