Budget smartphone OEM Tecno has announced the launch of its latest smartphone, the Tecno Spark 8. The latter will face off against the best smartphones under Rs 10,000, and offer a fairly standard overall package that’s expected from budget phones in this range. The smartphone offers a waterdrop notch at the top, while the chin bezel is expectedly thick. The volume and power buttons are to the right, while the fingerprint sensor is on the rear, and is part of the rather awkwardly large camera module. The rear also bears the ‘Tecno Spark’ branding, along with a pretty bold ‘STOP AT NOTHING’ marketing tag line.
Tecno Spark 8: price and availability
The Tecno Spark 8 is priced at Rs 7,999, and the first sale of the smartphone will make it available from “all retail stores” from Wednesday, September 15.
The Tecno Spark 8 is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, accompanied by 2GB RAM and 64GB storage. It has a 6.52-inch, HD+ display that the company claims will offer 120Hz touch response rate (NOT to be confused with display refresh rate). To the rear, the smartphone features two 16MP “AI high resolution” cameras, while the front camera is an 8MP unit.
While the rear camera can record up to full HD videos, the front camera can make HD (720p) video calls. The smartphone also features a microSD card slot that can expand storage by up to 256GB. Powering the entire package is a 5,000mAh battery, while it runs on Android 11 Go mobile OS. It also features the usual Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi dual-band connections, while charging and wired connectivity is handled by a microUSB port.
The Tecno Spark 8 will be offered in a green colour variant, and the rear features a plastic body panel. At the top, to ease the in-hand feel, the device features a 2.5D curved glass as well.
