Jio’s cellular services have abruptly gone down in Mumbai, Thane, and nearby areas. Thousands of users are not receiving any signals on their Jio SIM cards. Users are unable to make calls, receive OTPs, or use the internet on the Jio network. Here are the details.
Jio Services Go Offline in Mumbai
Jio’s cellular services went offline in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Dombivali, and other nearby areas at around 11:30 am IST. Jio users can’t receive any signals on their phones and are facing ‘No Signal’ errors on Android and iOS devices.
Thousands of users reported the problem on X (formerly Twitter). The connectivity issue in Jio appears to be related to cellular services. However, some Jio Fibre users also complained of internet issues with their broadband network.

Jio has yet to release an official statement or disclose the reason behind the downtime of its cellular network. However, an X user suggests this could be due to a fire at the Jio data centre in Mumbai. We have reached out to them and will update the article once there’s some official information.
Downdetector.com is also showing a huge spike in the number of complaints related to the Jio network. Over 10,000+ people have reported problems on Jio just within the last hour.
As of now, Jio’s cellular services in Mumbai and other nearby regions have not been fully restored. While some users mention that they can make calls, they are still unable to use the internet properly.
According to the CEIC Data, Jio has over 13 million cellular users in Mumbai. It is also the largest telecom operator in the country with over 500 million subscribers. Hence, the sudden downtime of Jio’s services in Mumbai has left lakhs of users without connectivity.

Jio’s cellular services in Mumbai have now been restored. Users are now able to take and receive calls, and SMS, and use Jio’s internet services normally.
Here’s what Jio’s spokesperson said on the issue:
This morning, some Jio customers in Mumbai faced problems in availing seamless services on account of minor technical issues. The same have been resolved, and seamless services of Jio have been fully restored. We regret the inconvenience to our subscribers.
While the services have been restored to full functionality, Jio has not disclosed the exact reason behind the downtime.
