The Teacher Storyline
The plot revolves around Devika, a Physical Education teacher in a government school, who gets drugged and raped. The movie opens with a confused Devika checking for signs of an assault she can't remember. Devika, however, is a fighter and refuses to let this go. She decides to track down her attackers and punish them. In her corner, she has her mother-in-law, Patton Kalyani, a beedi-puffing, pan-chewing Communist party activist. She is shocked that her son can't comprehend the severity of the crime and trauma of poor Devika. Her husband first accuses her of causing the assault. However, he soon realizes his mistake and asks for forgiveness. The damage has been done, though, and Devika refuses to forgive him when he begs for a second chance. What happens next?
