Thomson, a French consumer electronics brand under Technicolor SA’s umbrella, has launched four new smart TVs in India. All of the newly launched smart TVs come pre-installed with an official version of Android TV 8.1 (Oreo) operating system. The company has also announced that it is the first brand in the country to fully manufacture all of its newly launched Android TVs in India. Thomson’s new Android TVs come in four screen sizes: 43-inch, 49-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch. All these models also use 4K HDR10 certified screen panels.

The 43-inch 4K Thomson Android TV is priced at INR 29,999. The 49-inch and the 55-inch 4K Android TVs from the company are priced at INR 34,999 and INR 38,999, respectively. The priciest TV from the brand, which has a screen size of 65 inches, is priced at INR 59,999. All these TVs will be exclusively available for purchase through Flipkart’s website, starting the 14th of June 2019.
43-inch, 49-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch Thomson Smart Android TVs: Features
The top-of-the-line 65-inch Android TV (65 OATH 7000) from Thomson features an IPS LCD (with direct LED backlight) display panel with 4K resolution, HDR10 certification, and 178-degree viewing angle. The panel can reach a peak brightness of 550 nits, has 500,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and 60Hz refresh rate. The TV uses a processor with quad-core Cortex-A53 64-bit CPU and ARM Mali-T860 GPU. There’s 2.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
There are two box speakers on the TV with 40W RMS audio output. There are various audio equalizers and support for Dolby Audio and DTS Surround Sound. The TV comes with Google Play Store and pre-installed video streaming apps like Hotstar, Netflix, SonyLIV, Voot, YouTube, and ZEE5. Its remote controller features direct access buttons for launching Google Assistant, Google Play, and Netflix. There’s built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, and Google Cast-based screen mirroring feature. In terms of ports, it has 3 HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, an optical digital audio output port, RF in, composite in, ethernet port, and headphone port. The TV also comes bundled with 2 AAA batteries and a wall mount.
The 55-inch Android smart TV from Thomson (55 OATH 0999) features a 4K IPS LCD panel with 178-degree viewing angle, HDR10 video playback, 550 nits peak brightness, 5,00,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and 60Hz refresh rate. It has the same software and hardware internals as that of the 65-inch version, but the audio out of its stereo loudspeakers is limited to 30W. Input and output ports are exactly similar to that of the 65-inch variant as well. Except for the screen size, the 49-inch version (49 OATH 9000) and the 43-inch version (43 OATH 1000) of Thomson’s 2019 Android TVs are exactly similar to the 55-inch version, including the screen panel, audio output, hardware, software, and IO ports.
