Google has introduced a new media streaming device called Google TV Streamer 4K. It is an official replacement for Chromecast and marks the end of the product line after over a decade. The new device boasts faster and smarter performance, thanks to the prowess of Gemini AI.

The Google TV Streamer 4K is priced at USD 99.99 (about INR 8,392) in the United States. The new streaming device is currently available for pre-order. It will go on sale on September 24 via the Google Store and third-party offline stores. The available colour options are Hazel and Porcelain. There is no official announcement yet on whether this will come to India.

The Google TV Streamer has a 4K set-top box design that you will likely have seen from other players in the market. It means the device can now be placed in front of your TV instead of hanging on the backside like a Chromecast dongle.
The biggest difference is that the Google TV Streamer 4K is powered by Gemini AI. This is Google’s generative AI assistant to help you get things done and find answers. It is said to be capable of delivering full summaries, reviews, and even season-by-season breakdowns.
The Google TV Streamer 4K features a new improved 22% faster processor, double the RAM, i.e. 4GB, and 32GB of onboard storage. Google claims faster app load times and overall performance than the last-gen Chromecast.
It supports 4K HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Audio for a superior entertainment experience. The connectivity options include a USB Type-C port, an HDMI 2.1 port, an Ethernet port, dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.1.
The new media streaming device from Google can also double as a smart home hub. It supports Matter and has a built-in Thread border router. Google Home Panel will also be available for the convenience of controlling all your smart home devices from a single place.
It comes with Google TV integration, which is a universal hub for entertainment content from all your favourite streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and Apple TV. It can curate content and offer personalized suggestions based on your interests.
There is ambient mode support where you can use your Google Photos as a screensaver. Users can also use generative AI capabilities to generate unique screensavers for the display.
