Samsung’s New TVKey Cloud Technology Will Let You Watch Live Channels Without Set Top Box

Highlights
  • Samsung’s new technology eliminates the need for a set-top box to watch live TV on cable or DTH.
  • It also combines Live TV and OTT streaming apps with a single remote.

Samsung has launched its TVKey Cloud technology for its TVs in India. It allows users to stream live TV channels without a set-top box. The new feature works with existing Samsung TVs on GTPL Hathway and Dish TV operators. Here are the details of how this concept works, and how you can use it on your Samsung TV.

Samsung TVKey Cloud Technology: What is it?

The TVKey Cloud Technology is co-developed by Samsung and NAGRAVISION. It eliminates the need for an external set-top box. The setup requires your TV to be connected to an internet connection over Wi-Fi and a direct connection to your cable TV or DTH antenna wire.

Your Samsung TV uses its built-in processor to authenticate the signals received over Cable/DTH. You can stream your favourite TV channels using the Samsung Smart TV remote.

The TVKey Cloud technology declutters the TV ecosystem as this replaces the set-top box with its built-in processing system. However, users are still required to have an active TV pack from their cable/DTH operator. Currently, this functionality is available with GTPL Hathway cable and Dish TV DTH operators. Samsung has not revealed details on its availability with Airtel, Videocon, or other cable/DTH service providers in India.

TVKey is compatible with existing Samsung TV models, which include 2023 and 2024 connected variants like the Ultra HD, OLED, QLED, and Neo QLED Series. It also retains the functionality of streaming OTT apps. Viewers can seamlessly switch between Live TV channels and OTT content using the same remote.

GTPL Offers for Samsung TVKey Cloud

GTPL is offering one month of free subscription with each month of payment for Samsung TVKey Cloud users. Additional benefits include free access to GTPL Buzz (Live TV mobile app) during the active subscription period. A free trial of 15 days is also included for BlackNut, a cloud gaming service.

If your Samsung TV is compatible with the new technology, you can also get a free Wi-Fi router with free installation from GTPL. The service provider is also bundling 1 free month on 6 month plan, and 2 free months on a 12-month internet subscription plan.
