Sony has launched its latest premium television lineup in India—the BRAVIA 8 II series—featuring QD-OLED display technology and the next-gen XR Processor with AI. Available in 55-inch and 65-inch screen sizes, the new TVs aim to offer a flagship-level cinematic experience at home with sharper visuals, deeper blacks, and enhanced colour accuracy.
The XR Processor with AI powers real-time content optimization by analyzing contrast, colour, texture, and depth to mimic how the human eye perceives detail. The series also includes XR OLED Contrast Booster 25 and XR Triluminos Max to deliver vibrant, lifelike colours even in well-lit environments.
The BRAVIA 8 II TVs come loaded with features tailored for content purists and cinephiles. The models support Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced, and multiple studio-calibrated viewing modes, including those optimized for Netflix, Prime Video, and Sony Pictures Core content.
Sound output is handled by Acoustic Surface Audio+—a display-based actuator system that emits audio directly from the screen, helping align sound with visuals for improved immersion. The TVs also include Clear Phase audio tuning and dual 20W down-firing speakers.
The new series runs on Google TV, offering access to over 10,000 apps and content discovery features powered by user preferences. Users also get integration with Apple AirPlay and HomeKit, as well as voice-enabled controls via Google Assistant.
For gamers, the BRAVIA 8 II supports HDMI 2.1, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto HDR Tone Mapping for the PlayStation 5. A dedicated Game Menu allows users to toggle settings like motion blur and black equalization on the fly.
In terms of design, the BRAVIA 8 II adopts Sony's Slim One Slate layout with narrow bezels and minimal distraction. The TVs also support the brand's Road to Zero sustainability goals by incorporating SORPLAS recycled plastic, energy-saving modes, and an Eco Dashboard for users to monitor and adjust power usage.
