Twitter is all set to take on the likes of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts with its new Immersive video and viewing experience. Last year, Twitter started testing full-screen video playback and pictures on iOS, and now the microblogging platform is taking things to the next level with a couple of major updates.

Short videos are gaining more popularity than ever before. YouTube has already announced that the company will start expanding its partner program to shorts as well starting in early 2023, which allows creators to make money by showing ads. Now, Twitter has introduced the TikTok style of video viewing experience and easy discovery.

Videos For You on Twitter

On the new version of the app, Twitter has added a new media player which plays videos on full screen with a single click, allowing you to easily access the full, immersive viewing experience. To get started with this feature, all you have to do is open the Twitter app and tap on the search button at the bottom and scroll down a bit to find the “Videos For You” section.

You can tap on a video in the Twitter app and the video will be launched in full-screen mode. You can scroll up to start browsing for more video content. In this section, you will get videos both from people whom you follow and videos from other creators whom you might not have followed. As of today, the feature is available for Android users and in the coming days to users using Twitter on iOS.

The videos will also display the number of views a particular video has gained. You can tap on the “see more” option to explore more videos, just like Instagram reels. With the new video carousel, you can find more videos you like alongside Tweets and trends that might interest you. The video carousel is currently available to people in select countries using Twitter in English on iOS and Android.
