Twitter Rolls Out Spaces, It’s Audio-Only Social Platform Rivalling Clubhouse, to Select iOS Users

Twitter the social media platform has reportedly started testing Spaces on a wider level. It’s a Clubhouse-styled feature which allows users to utilize audio chat rooms. Just in case you don’t know the feature is powered by Periscope, which is an American live video streaming app for Android and iOS devices. The feature was launched back in November 2020 and rolled out to a limited beta tester in December.

According to the report, the company has started testing Twitter Spaces on a wider level and it seems that Twitter is looking forward to rolling out the feature soon. Meanwhile, Clubhouse is garnering huge popularity in the tech industry and it will be the biggest rival for Twitter Spaces.

The Clubhouse is voice-based invite-only social network app, however, China has recently banned the app over censorship. The app is only accessible for people who have received an invite from an existing user. Meanwhile, Twitter’s Beta testing of Spaces has reached more than 3,000 people. All the beta testers can have the access to the feature and they can create public or private rooms as per their requirement. Do note that any Twitter user followed by them will be able to listen to the Spaces rooms which are created by the testers.

Twitter Product Lead Kayvon Beykpour has conducted a Spaces chat room today to announce that the beta testing has expanded and the rollout of the feature will be soon kick off in the upcoming weeks. According to the Gadgets 360 report, some Twitter employees have already started using the new feature and creating new Spaces.
