Direct to Digital trend is getting popular with many production houses and stars opting to release their movies directly on digital platforms. The trend is beneficial for both the makers of the movies and digital platforms. While makers get their movies to digital streamers as they help them in recovering the cost of the movie and digital streamers get enriched with the vast bundle of content to be available on their platforms. Every year, India produces the maximum number of movies in the world, but a sizable portion never sees a theatrical release. Given their extensive reach, OTT services are becoming viable options in such a situation.
Harping on the trend, another movie by Pooja Bedi’s daughter Alaya F is going digital. Her last movie Freddy was also released digitally. The actress will next appear in U-Turn, which will premiere exclusively on ZEE5. The actress herself shared the first poster of the movie. Ekta Kapoor, who is producing the movie, spoke about choosing Alaya F for the lead role and said, “Alaya was fantastic in her debut movie. There’s a self-assured yet vulnerable quality to her that I believe can connect with audiences across. U Turn takes you on a ride with twists & turns galore & edge-of-the-seat excitement. I’m so happy to have Alaya on board!”
U-turn is the upcoming Hindi version of the 2018 hit Kannada thriller of the same name, which starred Shraddha Srinath. 2018 saw a Telugu remake of the movie with Samantha Ruth Prabhu playing the lead. The movie is also made in Bengali, Malayalam, and Tamil.
When and Where to Watch U-turn
As it is evident that the film is premiering directly on ZEE5, the OTT platform has all the rights for the movie and it has announced that it will release the movie on April 28, 2023.
