The company is rolling out a new update for the Uber rider app. The update brings many changes and is the first significant update to reach the app in six years. The company said the update is a comprehensive global revamp of its app and brings many new features to help riders go anywhere effortlessly.

The company allows the app to be customized to the individual preferences of each rider. The changes in the update start right from the home screen, which gets a redesigned landing page. The app also makes booking rides easier by considering the most preferred destinations and products for each rider. Essentially, Uber has reduced the number of taps required for booking.

For example, the users can find all product offerings in their city, such as a nearby Moto to Auto, Intercity, Rentals, Reserve, Connect, and more. Apart from this, the new Activity Hub also keeps track of past and upcoming rides all in one place.

As we mentioned, the update has made the app more customizable. The users can set their favorites, such as ride types, locations, and more, making the ride booking process effortless. The “Where to?” button on the home screen will suggest a list of personalized destinations and ride types based on preferences, past trips, and most likely destinations.

Further, the app will also share personalized recommendations for planning travel and saving money based on each rider’s riding pattern. The company explains that if a rider regularly uses Uber Auto, it will likely be their first option. Apart from this, the app will also suggest other affordable options.

One of the significant changes is the way to track the live status of rides. The app provides an option to display live activities on the lock screen of their smartphone. It will help the users to track the progress of their rides easily. The app will display vehicle details, ETA information, and trip status on the lock screen.

Uber says the lock screen feature is currently rolling out for iOS devices. The feature will be available for Android smartphones in the future.
